Currently, this service is only available to business customers.
Most users don’t require a static IP address, but those needing to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to securely and reliably connect to remote servers might need one.
By default, Starlink assigns its customers a dynamic IP address that changes frequently. This is due to a global shortage of unique IPv4 addresses. To address this issue, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) use technologies like CGNAT, which allows them to dynamically assign IP addresses to customers as needed.
Although Starlink may offer static IP addresses to residential customers in the future, it currently only provides this service to business customers at a premium price.
Another option to obtain a static IP is by using a VPN service. A VPN hides the internet connection behind a VPN server, allowing users to bypass Starlink’s CGNAT issues and obtain a static IP address.
